When you're feeling stuck, it can be hard to know what to do next. It's all too easy to stay in your comfort zone, but the world is full of so many opportunities and possibilities that you won't find anywhere else. If you're not sure how to take the next step in your life, here are some ways to get started.
Start small
If you are not feeling brave enough, start small. For example, if you want to go for a run, start by walking. If you want to go on a date, start by going to lunch. If you want to learn how to ride a bike, start by going for a bike ride in the park. If you want to go skydiving, start by standing on the edge of a building and looking down. If you want to go back to school, start by signing up for an online course. Don't be afraid of your bravery!
Make a plan
If you find yourself in a tough situation, make a plan. What do you want to happen? Who do you need to talk to? What are your options? How can you make it happen? You'll be surprised at how much easier it can be to be brave with your life when you have a plan.
Get help if you need it
You can't do everything on your own. If you're feeling overwhelmed, talk to a counselor or therapist. They are trained to help you figure out what's best for you and how to cope with your stress. You can also talk to a trusted family member or friend. They may be able to provide the support you need and give you advice.
Invite others along for the ride
It's hard to be brave when you're afraid of what other people will think. But the more you invite others in, the less alone you'll feel. It might sound counter-intuitive, but it's true. If you're not sure how to start, just tell your friends about your plans. You'll be surprised at how many people want to help you and are willing to go with you on your journey.
Accept that change is inevitable
The world is constantly changing. The only thing you can control is how you react to it. You can either fight it or embrace it. Fighting the change will only make you more stressed out and unhappy, while embracing the change will make you feel more in control and less stressed. Instead of trying to fight the inevitable, try to find ways to enjoy it. For example, if you are moving to a new city, try to find the things about your new home that you love or that make it special. If you are experiencing a major life event like a death or divorce, don't be afraid to let yourself experience pain and sadness. It's okay to feel upset and angry for a while, but try not to let those feelings linger indefinitely.
The beautiful thing about life is its full of challenges. But when we overcome those obstacles, the reward and feelings are beyond amazing. Share with us how is your journey going!
